Marianna Szücs

Marianna Szücs was born in Hungary and received her diploma at the Liszt Academy in Budapest. She went on to study the baroque violin with Catherine Mackintosh and Richard Gwilt at the Royal College of Music and Trinity College of Music, London.

She has won prizes in various competitions and performed as soloist, leader and chamber musician throughout the British Isles. She regularly plays with leading specialist ensembles like The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The Academy of Ancient Music, The English Concert, Florilegium and chamber groups such as The Brook Street Band, Abendmusik, Diapason Ensemble and Passemezzo. She has recorded several times for BBC Radio 3, Radio Hereford, and BBC Wales.

As the leader of the Brook Street Band Marianna regularly teaches baroque chamber music at Dartington International Summer School and gives workshops at many institutions, such as London Handel House and Joaquin Maya Music School in Spain. She has also been involved in community work in association with "Live Music Now!". Marianna enjoys playing the viola d'amore as well.
