Katy Bircher - flute
Katy Bircher read music at Magdalen College, Oxford and completed her studies with Lisa Beznosiuk at the Royal College of Music, where she won the Century Prize for Early Music.
Appearing regularly with such groups as the Gabrieli Consort, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Kings Consort, the English Concert and La Serenissima, Katy has performed in Europe, the States and the Far East, and plays principal flute on the controversial new recording of Bach's St Matthew Passion with the Gabrieli Consort and Players (Deutsche Grammophon).
With La Serenissima she has performed many of Vivaldi's flute concertos, including several newly discovered works. This year she will be performing concertos by Johann Stamitz, Franz Benda Quantz, CPE Bach, Telemann and Pergolesi.
