Christine Sticher - bass

Christine Sticher

Born in Germany, Christine's first musical experiences were as as a guitar player and trombonist. It wasn't until the age of 18 that she decided she would play the double bass.

She began her studies as a modern bass player in Mannheim and Salzburg, and performed engagements at the State Theatre in Wiesbaden and with the Mozarteum Orchester, Salzburg. She continued her studies in Amsterdam and The Hague, where a clear preference for early music became apparent.

Christine Sticher was bassist of the European Union Baroque Orchestra in 2002-3 and received a grant from the EUBO Development Trust. She performs with many different orchestras and ensembles, including Salzburger Hofmusik, The Sixteen & The Symphony of Harmony and Invention, L'Orfeo Barockorchester, Linz and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
