Alfonso Leal del Ojo - viola
Alfonso was born into a tone-deaf family in Seville in 1977. Luckily for the audience he has not inherited this unfortunate family trait.
He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Timothy Boulton thanks to support from many institutions who obviously thought he was a good investment against their taxes. After 4 long years of study, he decided he hadn't quite had enough and went to study Period Viola for 2 more years at the Royal Academy of Music with Katherine McGillivray.
They were very kind to him at the Royal Academy of Music; they paid his fees, awarded him a Distinction in his final exam and allowed him more time off than he deserved to go and play with groups such as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Gabrieli Consort and Players, the English Concert and others. He owes much to the European Union Baroque Orchestra where he met many friends and his partner.
